JEST 2024 Application Form will release in fourth week of January 2024. Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is a national level entrance exam conducted every year. The exam is conducted to provide admission in Ph.D./ Integrated Ph.D. programmes in Physics, Theoretical Computer Science, Neuroscience and Computation Biology, etc. It will be conducted by Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) recognized JEST as National Eligibility Test (NET). JEST 2024 Application Form

Following are the details about JEST 2024 Application Form with some instructions:

• The JEST 2024 Application Form will be available through online mode, no other mode will be entertained
• Candidates must fill the application form with details i.e., academic details, personal, contact details, etc.
• Registration form for JEST 2024 will release in fourth week of January 2024.
• After filling the form, upload the scanned passport size photograph and signature in prescribed size and format.
• Authority will also provide correction facility to edit incorrect details (if any) in the application form for limited time period.
• The last date to submit the application form will be till first week of March 2024.
• At last, students must submit the form and take the printout of the application form for future references.

• JEST 2024 Application Fee will be submitted through online mode.
• Registration fee will be paid using Debit card, Credit card and Net Banking for transaction.
• The fee will be non-refundable once paid.

How to Apply for JEST 2024

• Step-1: Go to the website (link will be available above).
• Step-2: For registration, candidates must enter name, email id, password, and date of birth.
• Step-3: Fill the application form with details such as personal, educational qualification, etc.
• Step-4: Upload the scanned photograph and signature to complete the application form.
• Step-5: Pay the application fee through online mode using Credit card, Debit card, etc.
• Step-6: Take the printout of the application form for further use.

JEST 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Check the following eligibility criteria for JEST 2024 as given below:

For Ph.D. programmes:

• M.Sc. in Physics: The candidates must pass B. Tech/ M.Sc./ BE/ MTech in applied physics and mathematics.
• Computational Biology at IMSc: The institutes accept M.Sc., MTech, ME, MCA in any engineering or science subject.
• Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc: Applicants must qualify M.Sc., MTech, ME degree in Computer Science and Mathematical aspects.
• Neuroscience at NBRC: The applicants must pass M.Sc., B. Tech, MCA in Computer Science, and Physics/ Mathematics.

For Integrated Ph.D. programmes:

• Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc: Candidates must pass B.Sc., B.Tech. MCA in Computer Science and must be interested in mathematical aspects.
• Ph.D. programme at IIA: Applicants must have M.Sc. in Physics, Applied Physics/ Post-Basic (Hons) in Optics and Optoelectronics.

JEST 2024 Exam Pattern

Candidates must check following exam pattern for JEST 2024 below:

• Mode of exam: The exam will be conducted through pen and paper (offline mode).
• Duration: 3 hours will be allotted to the candidates to solve the paper.
• Type of Question: The paper will contain Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
• Medium: The exam will be in English language only.
• Total questions: There will be total of 50 questions in the exam.
• Section: Paper will be divided into three sections i.e., A, B, and C.
• Marking scheme: For every correct answer, 3 marks will be given. 1 mark will be deducted for wrong answer in Part A.
• For Part B, 3 marks will be given for correct response and there will be no negative marking.
• For Part C – Each correct answer carry 1 mark and –1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

JEST 2024 Syllabus

JEST 2024 Syllabus will be released by the exam authority. JEST syllabus will be based on the graduation and post-graduation level.

• Classical Mechanics: Newton’s law, conservation of energy and momentum, principle of least action, collisions, symmetry and conservation laws, small oscillations and normal modes, kepler problem, etc.
• Electronics: Basics of semiconductor, diodes, p-n junctions, rectifiers, amplifiers, active filters and oscillators, LCR circuits, basics of digital electronics, basics of OPAMPs, etc.
• Mathematical Methods: Vector algebra, tensors, curvilinear coordinate systems, linear differential equations, special functions, complex analysis, laplace transforms, elementary properties of discrete groups, theory error analysis.
• Quantum Mechanics: Uncertainty principle, central potentials, orbital and spin angular momenta, hydrogen atom, variational principles, Hermitian operators, time dependent perturbation theory, etc.

JEST 2024 Preparation Tips

Here are some preparation tips for effective study for JEST 2024 exam:

• The candidate needs to complete the information about the exam pattern and syllabus.
• Prepare a suitable timetable which will help them in managing the time properly.
• The candidate must get good study material from the market and other coaching institutes.
• The candidate must solve the previous year’s question paper and mock tests before the exam.
• One must note down the important points at the time of preparation.

JEST 2024 Admit Card

The JEST 2024 Admit Card will release in third week of March 2024. It will be available through online mode. The registered candidates will be able to download the admit card by entering application number and date of birth.

JEST 2024 Admit card will be the most important document to carry on the day of the examination. Candidates without admit card will not be allowed to appear in the examination. Candidates need to take the printout of the admit card.

JEST 2024 Answer Key

The JEST 2024 Answer Key will release by the authority through online mode. The answer key will be available in first week of April 2024. It will consist of the correct answers to every asked question in the entrance examination.

The Answer key will be available in the PDF format. If candidate will not be satisfied with the answer then they will be able to raise the objection by paying processing charge. The final answer key will be declared after candidates will clear their objection.

JEST 2024 Result

The JEST 2024 Result will declare in second week of April 2024 through online mode. The result will be prepared on the basis of candidate performance in the entrance exam. Candidates need to enter the login details i.e., roll number and date of birth to check the result.

After entering the details on the website, the result will be displayed on the screen. Applicants will be able to take the printout of the JEST 2024 result for further counselling procedure.

JEST 2024 Counselling

The JEST 2024 Counselling will be conducted separately by participating institutes. The institutes will release the list of shortlisted candidates for interview on the basis of cut off. Once the applicants will be shortlisted, they will be called for the interview process.

They will release the interview dates and venue via email and SMS. After interview process, candidates will have to attend the counselling to confirm their seats in choice of their college.
